What counts as an emergency

  • Toothache that won’t settle
  • A knocked-out or broken tooth
  • A lost filling or crown
  • Swelling in the mouth or face
  • Bleeding that won’t stop
  • An injury to your mouth or jaw

For severe swelling, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or significant facial trauma, go to your nearest hospital emergency department.

While you wait for us

Knocked-out tooth

Hold it by the crown (not the root), keep it in milk or your cheek, and call us straight away.

Toothache

Rinse with warm water and call us. Avoid placing painkillers directly on the gum.

Broken tooth

Save any pieces, rinse gently, and call us so we can advise and find you a time.
